neutrinoTV is based on the .NET framework 2.0 and the ActiveX plugin of the VLC media player. Hence, in order to be able to use neutrinoTV these two components need to be installed. Make sure, that you install the Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 (which can happily co-exist with the .NET 1.1 framework) and any updates provided by Microsoft. Besides the .NET framework 2.0 it is essential to install the ActiveX plugin for the VLC media player. This can be done by downloading the VLC installation package from http://www.videolan.org and installing it, while taking care that the checkbox for the ActiveX plugin is set during installation. Currently neutrinoTV supports the ActiveX plugin of VLC 0.8.4a and 0.8.5. However, other versions of the VLC might also work together with neutrinoTV they just havent been tested.
In case one of these two components is missing, neutrinoTV is not able to start and will quit with an error message.

neutrinoTV can be downloaded from http://neutrinotv.homeip.net or http://www.neutrino-tv.de. It is distributed in one of two ways: As a Windows installer setup package or a zip-compressed archive.
With the windows installer package it can be installed by simply executing the setup program of the installer. This method also adds a program group entry and a link to the desktop. It can be removed using the neutrinoTV entry in the control panel/software. If you install a new version of neutrinoTV it is possible to simply install the new version over the old one. Even though unlikely, in case of problems, just uninstall it completely and re-install the new version.
Alternatively, you can omit the windows installer by just downloading the zip-compressed archive and uncompressing all files to a folder on your local hard disk. neutrinoTV can be started from that location.

Since neutrinoTV is still being developed there are also several test releases. You can recognize such a test release on its filename. Downloaded filenames follow the following pattern:
neutrinoTV-<MajorVersion>.<MinorVersion>B<BuildNumber>-[Test][Setup].zip
Major- and minor version number represent the current version of neutrinoTV. This number is incremented only if big functional changes happen or new features are introduced. Smaller changes, like adding smaller features or bug fixing are released by incrementing only the build number. If the term Test appears in the filename, than this is a release for testing some new feature or bug fix. When the term Setup is present in the filename the archive contains a windows installer setup of neutrinoTV (otherwise, just the plain files). An example for a test version with an installer is neutrinoTV-1.1B2478-TestSetup.zip.
